To experience the true unspoilt wilderness of the West Coast, you don’t need to look any further than Rapahoe Beach.
Just 11 kilometres from Greymouth, the small township of Rapahoe Beach is a secret paradise that offers everything from great walking tracks, seal colonies, dolphin spotting, the chance to pick up your own piece of greenstone from off the amazing stone beaches to the ultimate in peace and quiet.

Whether you are escaping on your own, or bringing the family for some much needed rest and recreation away from the frantic city pace we can help make your stay on the West Coast memorable.
The Rapahoe Beach Motor Camp is on the site of a hundred year old school and the historic buildings have been converted into charming accommodation units. The selection of accommodation options available includes three cabin units and three on-site caravans, as well as power and tent sites.
Cabin 1
Equipped with two single bunks, kitchenette facilities include tea/coffee making facilities, a fridge, cutlery and crockery. The room also has a table and chairs. Beds have a bottom sheet and pillowcase, extra bedding is available for hire.

Cabin 3
Equipped with six single bunks and a double bed, kitchenette facilities include tea/coffee making facilities, a microwave and fridge, cutlery and crockery. The room also has a TV and some chairs for sitting outside. Beds have a bottom sheet and pillowcase, extra bedding is available for hire.

Equipped with a set of single bunks and a double bed, kitchenette facilities include tea/coffee making facilities, a microwave and fridge, cutlery and crockery. The room also has a table and chairs and a TV. Beds have a bottom sheet and pillowcase, extra bedding is available for hire.

Equipped with a double bed and two single beds, as well as two single beds in the attached annex, kitchenette facilities include tea/coffee making facilities, a gas cooker and fridge, cutlery and crockery. The room also has a table and chairs and a TV. Beds have a bottom sheet and pillowcase, extra bedding is available for hire.

Equipped with a double bed and a single bed, kitchenette facilities include tea/coffee making facilities, a two-burner hot plate and fridge, cutlery and crockery. There is also a TV. Beds have a bottom sheet and pillowcase, extra bedding is available for hire.

Power and Tent Sites:
There are 12 tent sites and 12 power sites all individually hedged, some with sea views. Some of the power sites include hard standing, and may be used well into the winter. Another two power and several non-power sites have been developed on the bluff – all have great sea views out across the bay.
A well stocked camp kitchen features three full stoves, two sinks and sinkbenches, microwave and electric frypans, a large fridge and freezer, every imaginable kitchen utensil and variety of bowls, dishes and plates, as well as more cutlery and crockery.
The shared bathrooms have separate male and female toilets and shower facilities with hot water.
Guests are also invited to use the spacious lounge/dining room and enjoy the roaring fire and a wide range of games from darts to family favourite board games. The shelves are well stocked with books and magazines to suit a wide taste in literature. There are also racks of information on local and national attractions. As a guest of Rapahoe Beach Motel Camp you also qualify for discount vouchers for nearby attractions such as Shanty Town.

Location Description
11 kms north of Greymouth (West Coast, South Island of New Zealand) on Coast Road to Westport at small township of Rapahoe. State Highway runs parallel to seashore, about half-way along road through Rapahoe is turn-off to sea at Morpeth St. (red/white N.Z. Post Letterbox on corner. Down Morpeth about 100 metres is camp.
