Welcome to the heart of Queenstown – The adventure capital of the World!
Discovery Lodge is the most central Backpackers in Queenstown, right on the main street, right by all the bars, shops, cafes and restaurant areas. Most of our rooms have balconies looking out to the lake or up to the stunning mountains. Built in 2004 Discovery Lodge's top quality backpacker accommodation is brand new, with completely modern facilities, and a bathroom adjoining every room.
Open 24hrs, this hostel has everything under one roof to maximise your valuable time and enjoyment in Queenstown.
We've got a quality, fully made up bed for every budget - choose from doubles, twins, singles and dorms, all with private bathrooms.
Stylish Altitude Bar & Cafe is the place to meet other friendly travellers and dance the night away! Altitude has entertainment every night of the week with theme nights, DJ’s and games. Don’t forget the big screens for major sports events! Altitude has a pizza oven and backpacker meal deals, and indoor and outdoor seating. You can even get a hot breakfast or a packed lunch for on the road or up the mountain!
We have a chill-out lounge with an open fire, a SKY TV lounge, 24hr internet café, and full modern kitchen, dining and laundry facilities.

Location Description
GETTING TO DISCOVERY LODGE
Discovery Lodge is at 49 Shotover Street right in the centre of Queenstown.
One block from the lake and in the middle of Queenstowns shops restaurants and bars this is the most convenient budget accommodation in town!
GETTING TO & FROM THE AIRPORT
Shuttles and taxis are located outside the airport terminal and will drop you off at our front door.
The cheapest way to get to Discovery Lodge is by shuttle as taxis cost more.
When you are ready to leave, just ask our friendly reception crew to book your return shuttle to the airport.
DRIVING
Finding Discovery Lodge is simple as we are on Shotover Street, which is the main street of Queenstown.
BACKPACKER BUS
Backpacker buses will drop you at our door - just tell the driver you are staying at Discovery Lodge!
