General Information
Highland Peaks is a brand new luxury rural retreat close to Dunedin, the airport and wildlife.
We have panoramic mountain and sea views, 21 acres of peaceful rural grounds, native forest and birds. Built from natural stone and native timber, Highland Peaks is eco-friendly, designed for sun, views and energy conservation. We are seven minutes drive from restaurants and retail facilities.
Our modern European styling creates a warm, light, relaxed ambience. The private guest wing has really comfortable super-king, twin or king beds. All rooms have views, ensuite or private bathrooms with spa bath, plus attention to detail (bathrobes, toiletries, fresh flowers etc...). Guest numbers are limited to provide personal service.
On-site are a spa, BBQ, gym equipment, hiking and mountain bike tracks (we provide the bikes). We have friendly farm animals which you can hand feed. You can relax on the sundeck, enjoy watching and listening to native birds or retire to the spacious private guest lounge in front of a wood fire in the evenings.
Highland Peaks is an excellent base for exploring the region's attractions. See Otago’s spectacular wildlife, royal albatross, fur seals and rare penguins.
Or tour goldfields, explore Dunedin and fine cuisine. Or if you like to meet New Zealanders, dine with us. We enjoy entertaining, fine wines and gourmet food.
Peter, an ecologist and a former director of New Zealand’s National Trust, loves to share his extensive knowledge of NZ’s natural heritage. He also guides personal eco-tours.
