Christine and Robert, the owners of Quickenberry Lodge and Guesthouse in NZ hail from England and Switzerland where they trained and worked for many years in tourism. They will pamper you with a special sort of country hospitality which is not only one of the great traditions of both their home countries but also of the New Zealand High Country.
Quickenberry Lodge and Guesthouse is the ideal base to stay and discover the surrounding and stunning high country of the Lake Coleridge area. Quickenberry Lodge and Guesthouse has four rooms each with ensuite facilities. They all face north to get the morning sun and open out to the lawn with lovely views over farmland and nearby hills.
Each room has a super king size bed. There is a DVD and CD player on request. All rooms have air-conditioning. Toileteries and hair driers are provided. The tiled bathrooms have under floor heating, demist mirrors and heated towel rails.
Guests have access to a large lounge with an open fire place and a north facing court yard. A cosy library invites to read a book or magazine or maybe even write a letter.
Dinner and breakfast are served in an intimate dining room at individual tables.
There are numerous activities available at various cost but then there are also many things to do here at no cost at all such as:
- Walk the Rakaia walkway
- See the arboretum at Lake Coleridge
- Write a letter in the library
- Read a book out of our library
- Ask the chef for a cooking lesson
- See the rhododendrons at the Awa Awa reserve
- Take photographs of alpine flours up on Mt. Hutt
- Drive to Castle Hill for a look at the Kura Tawhiti limestone formations which are of great significance to Maori
- On a clear night watch the stars!
Included in our tariff is a four course meal of delicious food prepared in a European style, a mixture of Italian, French and Swiss. Over the years we have received many awards for our food and service with the outstanding achievement of winning the Montana Food and Wine Challenge when we received the prize for: Best Dining Experience: Best Food and Wine Match: Best Service: Best Overall Restaurant.
Quickenberry offers a range of cooking lessons for small groups of up to 8 people or on a one on one basis. The content of the classes can be suited to the interests of the guests.

Location Description
Terrace Downs is one of New Zealand's best golf courses. It is located about 1 hour from Christchurch high above the Rakaia Gorge in the High Country of Canterbury. The views are spectacular up towards Mt. Hutt and over to the Canterbury Plains. A true golfing paradise.
