Gunyah Country Estate Christchurch is situated in the middle of the South Island, in the Foothills of the Southern Alps. The property is an ideal base to experience the true New Zealand of mountains, scenery and outdoor pursuits. Set amidst beautiful gardens and woodland walks, Gunyah’s tranquil surroundings and gracious accommodation provide a magnificent retreat for the travellers.
At the on-site dining room, you can enjoy the sumptuous tastes of the freshest local fare prepared by the European chef. The veranda overlooking the garden is an ideal place to relax, catch up on reading, or engage in lively discussion.
Gunyah’s peaceful setting offers total privacy for small overnight conferences for a maximum of 8 people and day seminars for up to 20 people. Boutique weddings, lunches, dinners and functions for up to 36 people are our specialy. The owner is also a civil union celebrant.

Gunyah Country Lodge is a wonderful base for many activities and attractions. In less than 30 minutes you can feel the crunch of snow under your skis at Mount Hutt Skifield, or see your fishing rod tighten with the tug of a high country salmon. You can relax on one of the world's most famous train journeys - The Tranz Alpine, or tramp or bike through the untouched alpine scenery of Arthur's Pass.
For those who can abandon the luxury of their beds, it's just a short drive to see the sunrise hot air ballooning - the spectacular views over the farmland from the mountains to the sea will take your breath away. There are four golf courses near The Lodge, and if you've still got time to spare why not try jetboating, horse trekking or some of the many scenic drives that surround Gunyah Country Lodge.
