General Information
2007 AA Spirit of Hospitality Bed & Breakfast Award Finalist. Free transfers and complimentary Continental/cooked breakfasts. We are ideally located just 10 minutes from the outskirts of New Zealand's garden city, Christchurch, conveniently close enough for you to enjoy the many attractions that Christchurch offers and yet away from the hustle and bustle of the city.
Here at Garden View Bed and Breakfast Rolleston, we pride ourselves in our friendly, family atmosphere and our attention to your comfort and relaxation. We have a flexible approach to checking in and checking out and are happy to provide an evening meal if this is the most convenient option for you. We also recommend the nearby restaurant/bar (The Rock) - two minutes away.
Ask us for help and we'll sit with you while you plan your Canterbury countryside and city visits. Ask John for a tour of our expansive landscaped gardens or stroll through them at your leisure. Relax in the gazebo at the bottom of the gardens, listen to the birds and read a book as you enjoy a cup of tea or cold drink.
Our music room is available for your enjoyment (two pianos).
You will be less than an hour away from the beautiful bays and harbours of historic Banks Peninsula, and in the other direction, a one-hour drive will take you to the Southern Alps with their walking tracks, National Parks, ski fields and many other recreational activities. The famous Tranz-Alpine Railway train will pick you up and drop you off at Rolleston. Imagine travelling up the gentle Canterbury Plains into a mountain wilderness of gorges, tunnels and viaducts and emerging through the Otira Tunnel to a different world of West Coast rainforest.
Launch your South Island travel adventures from here - south to the southern lakes, Fiordland and Queenstown and north to Kaikoura (famous for its whale watching) as you drive to Picton to catch the ferry to the North Island.

Location Description
Like the city of Christchurch, Garden View Bed and Breakfast Rolleston is located on New Zealand’s most expansive farmland area, the Canterbury Plains. Rolleston offers you easy access to the city and a large and diverse playground of mountains, forests, grasslands, rivers, beaches and sea. To the east is historic Banks Peninsula, known for its stunning scenery and amazing wildlife. Most famous is the township of Akaroa with its French flavour and a harbour that is home to the World’s smallest and rarest dolphin, Hector’s Dolphin. You can see these playful dolphins from a boat or you can swim with them. Birdlife is abundant.
To the west, the Southern Alps fringe the Canterbury Plains and offer stunning views and a wide range of outdoor activities – skiing, rafting, golfing, climbing, tramping, fishing and more.
Christchurch city has become famous for its private and public gardens, fine dining, cultural events and special attractions such as the Arts Centre and Antarctic Centre.
