Using native timbers and materials, and following villa plans typical of nineteenth-century New Zealand, local craftsmen hand-built Brooklands for a pioneering farming family. Their farm is now a shady bird-filled forested parkland which Brooklands guests are free to roam and explore.
The homestead remains at the forest’s edge, softened and scented by cottage gardens and framed by old trees. Mellowed by the passage of time, restored with meticulous care, and enhanced by modern services, Brooklands is now recognised around the world as one of New Zealand’s most exclusive and charming country retreats.
