General Information
Our home is built in the Colonial stlye, with 4 large upstairs bedrooms, all with superb views. 2 have en-suite facilities, & 2 share toilet, & shower (2 rooms) We have a large family room with 1 double & 3 single beds (en-suite) with small fridge & tea making facility. Tea/coffee is readily & easily available downstairs also.
We have 30 acres (12 hectares) of land, with cows/calves, sheep, hens, & 1 Manx farm cat. Handy to a reserve where you may wander & meet the Donkeys.
Your stay at Mahurangi Lodge can be as relaxing as you choose.
An afternoon resting in our garden, a beach walk, or a vineyard tour - The Mahurangi area has many wonderful local attractions for visitors including:
Horse ride on nearby Pakiri Beach, with horses to suit everyone.
There are 3 Golf Courses within a half hour drive of Mahurangi Lodge.
Take a 25 min drive to Goat Island Marine Reserve and watch the fish around your feet as you paddle, swim, scuba dive, or snorkel, or just stand on the rocks.
Join the Wine Trail, visit the wineries, buy a bottle of the quality local wines and enjoy it later at the nearby quality B Y O restaurants, or maybe on our garden patio. We are proud to be able to recommend several good restaurants and takeaway eateries.
Visit the Potteries (Morris and James) or many of the other local craft outlets, which have an amazing variety of work on offer.
Enjoy safe Kayaking / Canoeing, round all the many little bays, or paddle to Kawau Island, or up-river to Warkworth.
Take a cruise to Kawau Island for the day sightseeing, with an interesting commentary en-route by the Skipper and his wife, and enjoy the walks, swimming Historic Mansion House and grounds, or just relax on the island's beach or gardens. (Ask about our special discount for this trip).
The Craft Market at Matakana is always popular.
Take a small Farm Walk with us, to meet our friendly fowls, sheep, horses, and cattle, and not forgetting our Manx Cat.
And the Reptile Park at Leigh will also appeal to some.
Kauri Trees, coastal & bush walks abound, plus our sensational 2 Regional Parks. There are also several local gardens you can wander through.
