General Information
Wharewaka Lodge offers luxury accomodation, situated directly on the lake edge of Taupo's best swimming beach. 7 minutes by car from Taupo township and 5 minutes from restaurants and thermal spas.There are three guest rooms, one superking, one queen, one king/twin, all with tiled ensuite, bath & shower, tea/coffee, TV and balcony. Sitting room with open fire for guest use.
Your hosts, Susan and Tony Dalby are retired cropping, sheep and cattle farmers, and built their lodge in 2003, having moved there to enjoy people and the plethora of interesting activities and amenities nearby. We have travelled extensively, worldwide and within New Zealand, and enjoy learning from our guests more about different cultures and countries. We, along with our two resident cats promise you a warm welcome.
In the cooler months, enjoy a glass of wine and hors d’ oeuvres beside our open wood fire in the living room, as a warm starter to the evening. When the days are warmer, we invite our guests to sit with us on the terrace beside the lake or in the private courtyard. When you catch one of Lake Taupo’s famous trout, we can present a special trout platter for your enjoyment.
We are well travelled around our own country and enjoy suggesting places of interest for our guests to visit, both locally and within New Zealand. We can provide and source information accordingly. We are passionate about our clear air and clean water environs and encourage our guests to enjoy all the benefits of the outdoors here.
Our lakeside locality provides a serene and pleasant environment, with a walking and cycling track at the bottom of our garden, where you hear native bird call. We provide kayaks for your use in our sheltered bay. Your comfort is assured in a friendly, warm atmosphere, with your hosts.

There are 3 beautifully appointed bedrooms with every comfort. There is 1 king bedroom, 1 queen bedroom and 1 king/twin bedroom.
Each room has a tiled ensuite bathroom with separate shower and bath, private balcony, sitting area, desk with internet connection, fridge with complimentary wines, juices, specialty teas and filter coffee, herbal toiletries and beautiful cotton bed linen, designed for Wharewaka Lodge. There is a guest elevator to the queen bedded room.
Our breakfasts are generous with fresh fruits, cereals, freshly squeezed juices and several cooked options, whole meal toast, home baked muffins, and tea or coffee. We have bicycles and 2 kayaks for guest's use, to enjoy the lovely sheltered bay and walking and cycling track at the bottom of the garden. There is a comfy living room where guests can relax beside an open wood fire with the complimentary wines and hors d'oeuvres each evening, and a terrace directly on to the lakeside, or a sheltered private courtyard.
