General Information
Tangowahine is in the heart of the Kauri region of Northland, Tangowahine Farm is one of the earliest settled areas and in times gone by was serviced by River, Rail and a thriving center for the logging industry. Nowadays the Kauri grow in peace and we farm beef and lambs. All accomodation was purpose built in the past three years. Guests are welcome to enjoy the farm and surrounding forests with the City of Whangarei a 45 minute drive away, Bay of Islands is an hours drive and the Longest drivable beach in New Zealand (Ripiro) is twenty minutes away This beach of golden sands is the resting place of over 153 shipwrecks.
Relax and enjoy this haven of tranquillity on a 250-acre farm in New Zealand that is central to Dargaville, Kaikohe and Whangarei - the ideal base for a Northland holiday. Experience nature - bushwalks, waterfalls, streams and abundant birdlife including the elusive kiwi at Tangowahine - literally "place to take a woman".
“Café Tango” includes both indoor and outdoor al fresco dining (covered or uncovered), depending on the weather.
Breakfast : all room rates include a substantial continental breakfast. Cooked breakfast is available by arrangement for $15 pp.
Guest Facilities:
- Phone, fax and internet facilities are available for guests.
- Taraire Cottage is self-contained with laundry facilities. Other rooms have laundry facilities available by arrangement.
- Advice on local attractions and how to get there is cheerfully provided along with maps. We are also happy to arrange bookings for activities and onward accommodation and travel.
